About this place
At Dancyu shokudo in Tokyo Station's Gransta Yaekita, the main draw for many is the ginger pork set meal (shogayaki teishoku). Slices of pork are coated in a rich sauce accented with grated ginger, and a classic way to enjoy it is letting the shredded cabbage soak up the sauce alongside the meat. Glossy white rice keeps up well with the sweet and savory sauce, leading many diners to opt for a large portion.
A pairing worth trying with this house specialty is the original craft beer "Pale Ale for Shogayaki," brewed by BLACK TIDE BREWING in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture. Developed specifically around the concept of complementing ginger pork, it is served in half and full sizes. Beyond the pork, set meals feature tightly stuffed shumai dumplings or marinated grilled chicken (kijiyaki). Small mamezara dishes—such as salted natto from Kato Keitaro Shoten or yuba chirimen from Mitakyu—let you round out the tray to suit your appetite.
Fitted with counter seating, the space is easy to visit on your own without hesitation. Operating from 11:00 to 23:00, it proves handy for a meal right before or after a shinkansen trip, or on the way home from work.
